Something a bit different in style for me but seems to be popular when I do do it. Exploring the idea of realism with abstracted qualities of textural paint marks. The elephants were painted in detail first from a photo from a good friend of mine and I left out the water but it seemed that they needed this to tie them to the ground and make them more realistic still. The water gave them a sense of place and movement. Then I was struck by the vast space I'd left at the top of my painting composition, I had intended to do scrub land but this would have been difficult to do and show distance effectively without having a sky. So I decided it would be best to break free of my normal observational style and explore the colour of the elephants in the textural abstract downward and upward strokes. I love the colour I've used here, it ties the whole piece and is such a lovely warm deep grey/blue. I've colour matched here as best as I possibly can in the photos. This painting will look different according to the time of day and will warm up any blank wall.
The painting is ready to hang but could be framed if you wished.
Much care and attention is taken in packaging my work for both national and international delivery. This item will be packaged firstly with an acid-free tissue paper to ensure a protective layer and is then sealed in clear plastic cellophane. All corners are protected with cardboard corner protectors. It is then finished with a triple wrapping of bubble wrap with two cardboard sheets and placed into another cardboard covering.
