I've become rather obsessed with using a palette knife for painting recently. This piece is created in just such a way. So there is an immediacy in the mark making and it looks spontaneous and unlaboured. The kingfisher is in keeping with the textural qualities of the background and the colours bring the whole thing together nicely. This is created for the most part from imagination with some help from imagery for the beautiful bird. The edges of the canvas are painted to match and it can be hung as it is or framed should you wish.
