Description
'm creating a series of pieces looking at partially abstract backgrounds with animals and birds appearing in them.
They are working brilliantly and I'm very pleased with the outcomes. I take watercolour paper of different sorts creating layered ink abstract technique. I look at the outcome of each sheet as a unique piece of art and carefully consider which creature to add to each. Then comes the composition and size which best fits the abstract ink background. I will usually use an area where there is a break in the colour to add the animal. This is then hand drawn with both ink pen and fine brushes; sometimes in a watercolour style - letting the inks slide over the paper and leak around and other times more drawn in nature.
This Gloucester Old Spot pig had the background created purposefully to reflect the animal itself.
