Obviously my love of old cutlery is turning into an obsession. I've just purchased a load of beautiful Classic knives, forks and spoons from France. So watch this space for more works. I started painting these while doing my open studio and as a live demonstration. So please do see Facebook for the film, should you wish to see the start of their creation. I then finished the finer details and changed the fiddle ends in the studio.
Created in Oil paints on Raw Linen Canvas. I like to leave the linen as a lovely textural background and edges, which also helps them to fit in with any decor. It can be hung straight away. Suitable for kitchens and cafes, it can be lightly wiped down with a damp cloth with no problem.
In terms of my application of oil colour, I predominantly use a mixture of both Winsor & Newton Griffin Alkyd and Melanie Cambridge Oils. If a higher pigment is still required I use Michael Harding Oils. I apply between 3-7 layers of oil colour to my work dependent on complexity.
Much care and attention is taken in packaging my work for both national and international delivery. This item will be packaged firstly with an acid-free tissue paper to ensure a protective layer and is then sealed in clear plastic cellophane. All corners are protected with cardboard corner protectors. It is then finished with a double wrapping of bubble wrap with a cardboard sheet on either side and placed into another cardboard covering.
